Dame Anne Begg is urging music bands and music lovers from around Aberdeen South to ‘Rock the House’

Dame Anne Begg is urging music bands and music lovers from around Aberdeen South to enter the Rock the House competition.

The music competition is open to all music lovers who fall into the following categories: solo artist, band, under 19 solo artist, under 19 band, and best small live music venue. Applications will close on March 1st 2013.

Applications from around the UK will submit applications for their local MP. Shortlisted candidates then go on to complete against bands from around the country.

Bullet For My Valentine’s Matt Tuck has said: “I am totally in support of the Rock The House campaign and had an amazing time at Parliament. I’m extremely happy to be involved”.

Dame Anne said: “Rock the House is a great opportunity for aspiring artists of any age looking to find a way into the industry. I am excited to listen to the tracks that the people of Aberdeen South can come up with, and hope to receive as many submissions as possible.”

Some of the winning prizes include; performing on the House of Common Terrace in front of celebrities, press and industry experts.

Playing at historic Cavern Club, which has played host to hundreds of music’s biggest names and is the birthplace of the Beatles.

Slots at music festivals, including the legendary heavy metal Download and the relatively new and eclectic Cornbury festival.

In addition there are thousands of pounds worth of musical equipment to be won!
