Labour MP for Aberdeen South from 1997 to 2015
Dame Anne is finding other things to fill her life since losing her seat at the last General Election.
She has been appointed as a Council member of the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC), the regulatory body for social and care workers which meets in Dundee.
Dame Anne is now Patron of the care charity Cornerstone and the NE Scotland literary magazine, “Pushing Out the Boat”.
She was one of Community cast members of the National Theatre of Scotland’s production of “Granite” which told the story of Aberdeen.
In June 2016 she was awarded an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Aberdeen.
She also has a few other irons in the fire.
